An abomination to God is something that God hates because of it being extremely offensive to him morally or spiritually. Once something has been classified as being an abomination in the Bible, it will always be an abomination to God. Listed below are some things from the Bible that God classifies as abominable. It should be noted that some versions of the Bible such as the (NIV) use words such as detestable and repulsive in place of the word abomination.
Some Things That Are An Abomination To God
Images Of Pagan Gods – (Deuteronomy 7:25,26) You shall burn the carved images of their gods with fire; you shall not covet the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it for yourselves, lest you be snared by it; for it is an abomination to the LORD your God.
Worshiping False Gods (Idolatry) – Deuteronomy 17:2-5
Sexual Transgressions – Deuteronomy 24:4
Sorcery And Witchcraft – Deuteronomy 18:9-12
Dishonesty – Deuteronomy 25:13-16
Wickedness – (Proverbs 15:9) The way of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, but He loves him who follows righteousness. (NKJV)
(Proverbs 6:16-19) – Verse 16 says there are six things the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him.
1. A proud look.
2. A lying tongue.
3. Hands that shed innocent blood.
4. A heart that devises wicked plans.
5. Feet that are swift in running to evil.
6. A false witness who speaks lies.
7. One who sows discord among brethren.
Without repentance, those who take part in doing abominable things will have no place in heaven.
