Will there be marriage in heaven? For those who have been married on earth, will that marriage continue in heaven?
We Will Neither Marry, Nor Be Given In Marriage
In the book of Mathew, Jesus responded to a question from the Sadducees about a woman who had been married numerous times. In the answer Jesus gave the Sadducees, we also find the answer to our question about whether or not there will be marriage in heaven. The Bible says we will be like the angels in heaven when it comes to marriage. We will neither marry, nor be given in marriage.
(Mathew 22:30) At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven.
No Marriage In Heaven, But No Sadness Either
For many it is a concern and a sad thing to think about that the marriage they have shared with their spouse on earth will not continue in heaven. While it is true the relationship for those who were married will not be exactly as it was, we most certainly will know and recognize our loved ones in heaven.
However God has arranged our relationship to be with the person we were married to on earth, we can be assured we will not be disappointed in heaven. For two born again people who are blessed to share their journey to heaven together, being in heaven together with our God is a glorious promise we can look forward to. The fact we will not be married as we were will in no way diminish the eternal experience of heaven. The old way of doing things will pass away to make way for the unimaginable things God has prepared for those who love him. (Revelation 21:4) (1 Corinthians 2:9)
