While the Bible says to pray about everything (Philippians 4:6), the Scriptures also give us specific things we should be talking to God about while we are praying. The following is by no means a complete list of everything we should be praying for, but it’s a good place to start. These are 10 things you can and should be praying about, along with the verses that talk about each one of them.
Pray For The Holy Spirit
(Luke 11:13) If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
Pray For The Salvation Of Unbelievers
(Romans 10:1) Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved. ESV
The Sick
(James 5:15) And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.
Pray For Demons To Be Cast Out
(Mark 9:28-29) Afterward, when Jesus was alone in the house with his disciples, they asked him, “Why couldn’t we cast out that evil spirit?” Jesus replied, “This kind can be cast out only by prayer.” NLT
Wisdom
(James 1:5) If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
(Ephesians 1:17) I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
Pray For Others
(James 5:16) Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
(Ephesians 6:18) And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
Pray For Your Enemies
(Mathew 5:44) But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! NLT
God’s Will Be Done
(Mathew 6:10) Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
(Colossians 1:9) We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives.
Pray That You Don’t Fall Into Temptation
(Mathew 6:13) And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
(Mathew 26:41) “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
When Your In Trouble
(James 5:13) Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray.
