Did the angels exist millions of years before the earth and mankind were spoken into existence, or did God create angels just a short time before he created the earth? Exactly when did God create the angels?
Just A Guess
The question of when God created the angels is sometimes debated, but attempts to answer this one are just guessing at best. What we do know is that angels were created before the world was. The Bible simply doesn’t say how long angels had existed before God created the earth. Maybe it was a few days, or it could have been a million years. It’s one of those questions we can look forward to asking in heaven, if we are still curious at that point.
The Angels Were Shouting While God Was Creating
While the Bible does not tell us exactly when the angels came to be, (Job 38) does let us know God had already created them at some point before he spoke the world into existence. Verse 7 says the angels were shouting for joy while God was creating the world we live in.
(Job 38:4-7) “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?
