How many people are going to be in Heaven? Will more people go to Heaven or Hell?
It is estimated that over 100 billion people have lived on the earth since Adam and Eve. That is a mind-boggling number. If this number of 100 billion is correct, even if only 1 percent make it to heaven, that means there will be one billion people walking the streets of gold. This fits the picture painted in (Revelation 7:9) that talks about there being a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb.
The Narrow Way To Heaven
While the Bible does not give us an exact number of how many will go to heaven or go to hell, a number of Scriptures are given that let us know there will be many more in hell than in heaven.
In (Luke 13:23-24) Jesus was asked the question, “Are only a few people going to be saved?” His answer to them, “Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to. This isn’t the only time the Bible speaks about the way to heaven being narrow.
(Mathew 7:13-14) refers to the gate and road that leads to life as being narrow and small, and only a few that will find it. On the other hand, wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. In other words, many will enter hell, and only few will find heaven. Many are called, but few are chosen. (Mathew 22:14) Hell has enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure, and many will be swallowed up and descend into it. (Isaiah 5:14)
God Doesn’t Want Anyone Going To Hell
God does not want anyone to perish, but wants everyone to come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9) Unfortunately, the Bible also says not everyone who says to Jesus, “Lord, Lord,” will enter the kingdom of heaven. It will only be the ones who do the will of the Father. (Mathew 7:21) Jesus said no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again of the water and the Spirit. (John 3:5) This is our one and only way to ensure that we go to heaven and not to hell.
