Heaven is where God himself dwells along with his angels. It is a place that Satan and the demons once roamed before being cast down to earth. Heaven is a realm where spiritual forces exists and Satan is still allowed to present himself before the Lord (Ephesians 6:12, Job 1:6). Does the Bible say where exactly this wonderful place is located?
Heaven Is Up
The closest the Bible comes to giving us a physical location or a direction to look towards when searching for heaven is to look upwards, as you can see from the following verses.
(2 Corinthians 12:2) I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven.
(Revelation 4:1) After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.”
(Revelation 21:1-2) Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.
The Bible Is Our GPS For Heaven
With today’s technologies we have the ability to plug-in just about any destination we want into our GPS and it will show us where it is and how long it will take to get there. The Bible is our GPS when it comes to the question of “Where is heaven?” It doesn’t give us an exact location, but it does tell us exactly how to get there. Jesus is preparing a place for those who follow God’s plan of salvation, and he is coming back to take us there sooner than some realize. (John 14:3)
